Of this number, 18,722,393 were from public schools, 2,478,488 from private schools, while 71,939 were from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) as well as Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) offering basic education.

The so far highest tally of enrollees was recorded in CALABARZON with 3,070,451 enrolled learners. It was followed by Metro Manila with a tally of 2,295,245.

“28.6 po ang ating expected learners for this year. Hinihikayat pa rin po natin ang ating mga magulang na hindi pa nakakapag enroll ng kanilang mga anak . Huwag na nating hintayin ang deadline. Sa ngayon ay wala pa po tayong extension na napag-uusapan (We are expecting 28.6 million learners for this year. We are still encouraging our parents who have not yet enrolled their children to have their kids enrolled now. Let us now wait for the deadline. So far we have not discussed an extension yet),” said DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa in a “Laging Handa” public briefing.

Meanwhile, the enrollment period will end on Aug. 22. Legal guardians and students were reminded that they may choose between the following enrollment methods: in-person, remote, and dropbox enrollment.

Individuals who will select the in-person enrollment method were reminded to strictly observe health protocols such as wearing masks and adhering to physical distancing in order to prevent the possible spread of Covid-19.

Classes for the upcoming SY will begin on Monday, Aug. 22.
