3 Manila cops busted for robbery, extortion 


Three Manila policemen were arrested for robbery and extortion during an entrapment operation conducted by the Philippine National Police- Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) on Monday, Aug. 15.

According to the initial report from the Manila Police District (MPD), the three police officers were arrested inside the Paco Police Community Precinct (PCP) on Pedro Gil, Paco, Manila at around 10:35 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.

The suspects were identified as SSg. Erwin Licuasen Basilan, Cpl. Chimber Rey Importa, and Pat Leopoldo Tuason Nival, who are all stationed at the Paco PCP.

The report said two unidentified individuals approached Basilan regarding the alleged impounded motorcycle. One of them gave an undetermined amount of money to Basilan. At this juncture, a personnel of the PNP-IMEG immediately arrested the suspects.

The three arrested police officers were brought to Camp Crame for investigation.
