BACOLOD CITY – Police found P1.4 million worth of shabu from a 21-year old high value drug target during a buy-bust operation at Purok Kahirup, Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Monday, August 15.

Police identified the suspect as Jeboy James Poneles of Barangay 2 in this city.

According to Police Lt. Joven Mogato, head of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), the illegal drugs might have been sourced out from Luzon and transported through the seaports of Escalante City or San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.

Mogato said they are intensifying their monitoring since the supply of illegal drugs might increase for the MassKara Festival in October.

The police, Mogato added, are exerting efforts to prevent the entry of illegal drugs here.

While not discounting the possibility that drugs may have already arrived in preparation for the festivity, Mogato said they will continue with their unrelenting manhunt of drug personalities so that drug trade will not progress.

Poneles’s apprehension came two days after Police Station 8 busted an alleged keeper or ‘bodegero’ of illegal drugs in Barangay Pahanocoy here last Sunday, which resulted in the confiscation of P4.3 million worth of shabu.
