P25-M shabu seized, 700 wanted persons nabbed in 24-hour police operation in Central Visayas


CEBU CITY – Three kilos of suspected shabu amounting to more than P25 million were seized in a region-wide simultaneous police operation in Central Visayas.

Dubbed Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO), the series of police operation started 12:01 a.m. August 13 and ended 12:01 the following day, August 14.

Police Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7), said 149 buy-bust operations were conducted. Seized were 3,738 grams of shabu worth P25,420,780.

Police also conducted operations against illegal gambling and loose firearms and tracked down wanted persons. Seven-hundred nine wanted persons arrested, 24 of which were most wanted.

"The region-wide SEMPO aims at reducing crime and strengthening public safety with the support of the community,” said Vega.

One-hundred thirty anti-illegal gambling operations were conducted which resulted into the arrest of 295 persons and confiscation of P26,781 cash bets.

In the campaign against loose firearms, 251 firearms and one explosive were seized in 185 operations, said PRO 7.
