Intelligence spy gunned down in Lanao del Norte


ILIGAN CITY – A 37-year-old fish vendor suspected of being an intelligence asset was shot dead in Sitio Ilian, Barangay Rarab, Nunungan, Lanao del Norte Friday, August 12.

Police Major Bernelito A. Padios, officer-in-charge, Nunungan police station, identified the victim as Rio Contemplo Resomadero, male, married, of Barangay Pinuyak, Lala, Lanao del Norte.

Investigation said that the victim was selling fish onboard his motorcycle at 2 p.m. when a man armed with an M16 rifle, who was identified as Akil A. Binong, male, farmer, of Picong, Lanao del Sur, appeared and told Resomadero: "Asset ka pala ha? Kaya ilang beses ka na pabalik-balik dito sa area namin (You’re an asset? You’ve been returning to our place several times).”

Binong fired at the victim several times and fled.

The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds and was taken to the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte where he died.

Recovered from the crime scene were 11 fired cartridge cases for an M16 rifle and the victim’s single motorcycle.

Police are investigating the incident.

The victim’s family has sought justice for him.
