25 families lose homes in Quezon fire


BUENAVISTA, Quezon – Twenty-five families lost their homes in a fire in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Poblacion before dawn here Monday, August 15.

The fire started at 4 a.m. in a store owned by businessman Paul Gulmatico. It quickly spread to nearby houses and stores made of light materials.

The fire which reached the second alarm was put out at 6 a.m.

Firemen from Lopez, Gumaca, Macalelon, Catanauan, Mulanay, and San Narciso responded to the fire.

Affected area was one block and the cause of fire still has to be determined, said Police Major Edmund Capistrano, local police chief.

Nobody was killed or injured in the fire. Amount of damage has not been revealed.
