Buddy Alain Ybanez, chief of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), said 152 families composed of 722 individuals from Purok Tambis and Sitio Laray in Barangay Umapad spent the night at the Umapad Elementary School after they were evacuated from their homes.

Of the evacuated residents, 208 were children, 18 were senior citizens, and two were persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“They are currently being catered by the CSWS ,” Ybanez said.

Heavy rainfall battered Cebu beginning from 3 p.m. Saturday up until evening which caused the swelling of the Butuanon River, according to Ybanez.

Floodwaters began subsiding in most of the affected communities as of 7 p.m., the Mandaue CDRRMO added.
