Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles has assured the public that her office will "maintain objectivity" in making pronouncements to ensure the orderly dissemination of information on policies, programs, official activities, and achievements of the Marcos administration.
In an interview with PTV-4 this week, Angeles highlighted the importance of relaying statements free from biases.
"You don't put any opinions there. That's what I'd like to imprint in the style that we're trying to show now," she told "The Chatroom" on August 11.
She mentioned how different the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) would be compared to the Duterte administration.
"There's a lot of passion in the past administration. This time, it's more sedate, more objective," Angeles said.
"The President likes science, and there's a science to language," she added, referring to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
According to Angeles, they do not speak for the President but clarify what he says, so it is "clearer."
The Palace official is also banking on her law background to get the information to the public.
"When you're a lawyer, when you appear in court, you can only say what advances the cause of your client. So it's like on a bigger scale, you say what advances the cause of the country," Angeles said.
"It doesn't help, for example, if the public officials issue opinions that might run counter to existing policy. It makes for a lot of confusion," she added.
Under Marcos' Executive No. 2, which reorganized the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and reverted it to the OPS, Angeles oversees the State-run news outlets such as PTV-4, IBC-13, Radyo Pilipinas, and the Philippine News Agency.
