Retired PH Army member accused of not supporting his children arrested


ARITAO, Nueva Vizcaya – A retired member of the Philippine Army who is facing charges in violation of R.A. 9262, or the ‘Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004,’ was arrested by authorities on Thursday morning, August 11, in Purok 2, Calitlitan, Aritao town in this province.

The suspect arrested by the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office personnel was identified as Alfredo Salonga, 59.

Operatives of Aritao Philippine National Police under the supervision of Police Major Oscar G Abrogena, Chief of Police, conducted a manhunt operation that resulted in the arrest of the accused by virtue of a warrant issued on September 24, 2020 by Hon. Maximo B. Ancheta, Acting Presiding Judge, Third Judicial Region, RTC Branch 87, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.

The court has set a fixed bail of P72,000 for the temporary liberty of the accused.

The accused was informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Rule and subsequently brought to Aritao PNP station for booking procedure.

According to information gathered, the accused was charged by his wife from Nueva Ecija for his failure to support his three children since June 2019, a violation penalized under the R.A. 9262.
