PNP chief Azurin met by Benguet officials with traditional dance

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Officials of the provincial government Benguet led by Gov. Melchor Diclas gave Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Rodolfo Santos Azurin, Jr. a warm welcome as he made a courtesy call to the capitol on Friday afternoon, August 12.

As is customary, a Benguet traditional dance greeted Azurin, who danced with the Igorot dancers.

Azurin went to the Police Regional Office 1 to officiate the turn-over ceremony of the new regional director, BGen. Belli Tamayo.

Azurin will also grace the turn-over of the appointed regional director, BGen. Mafelino Bazar, of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera on Saturday morning, August 13.

Azurin who was born in Paniqui, Tarlac grew up in the town of La Trinidad, Benguet, until he graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1989.

When Azurin was still a junior officer, he served in the region as an operation officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cordillera.

He later returned to Benguet as the provincial director of the Benguet Provincial Police Office.

He first served as commander PNP Area Police Command-Northern Luzon before being named Chief of the PNP on August 1. His tenure ends on April 24, 2023.
