Painter, 5 students arrested in Cagayan buy-bust


APARRI, Cagayan – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Batanes and the local police dismantled a drug den following the arrest of a 26-year-old artist and five students in a buy bust-operation on Jose Abad Santos St., Barangay San Antonio here Wednesday, August 10.

Suspects were identified as Ross Daniel Ontiveros, 26, painter; and Roseller ontiveros Jr., 21; John Lloyd Barnachea, Damary Arquillo, Neil de Ocampo, and Alyssa Rescar.

Seized from the suspects were one small self-sealing transparent plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops weighing one gram, two rectangular form containing suspected dried marijuana leaves, stalks, and fruiting tops wrapped with brown scotch tape weighing 100 grams, one big self-sealing transparent plastic bags containing suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing 0.3 grams, assorted drug paraphernalia, five android phones, and one Samsung tablet.

PDEA and the local police conducted a month-long surveillance following information gathered by operatives on alleged illegal drug activities in the area.

Suspects will be charged for violating Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 15, Article 2, of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
