Is a trade possible between Blackwater and Converge?
Bossing head coach Ariel Vanguardia revealed that there were no player movements yet on his team but such adjustments could be explored.
In fact, Blackwater is looking at Converge as a potential trade partner.
With Blackwater’s bid to land Matthew Wright looking bleak at this point, Vanguardia is hopeful to find the right talent to plug into the hole in their lineup especially at the small forward spot.
The veteran coach has been vocal about wanting a “big small forward” and a big man ever since they got eliminated by San Miguel which exploited these weaknesses during their quarterfinals match.
With the arrival of their import Cameron Krutwig who will play the big man role for the Bossing, the small forward spot will be the remaining void to be filled – with Converge boasting a deep rotation with the likes of Alec Stockton, Allyn Bulanadi, Jeron Teng, Kevin Racal and Tyrus Hill.
“Wala pa pero syempre Converge having a new coach, you know, we’ll try to talk to them, tingnan natin kung we can explore but we’re still looking for that small forward na medyo may height yun pa rin,” said Vanguardia during the League 75 Philippines-France Basketball Exhibition Games Press Conference on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Novotel Hotel.
Vanguardia was referring to the coaching change that happened in Converge where it is set to take a different direction under new coach Aldin Ayo.
The Blackwater head coach, however, is making no rush as he still has more than a month before the second conference opens on Sept. 21. The Bossing are already hard-pressed with their preparations, engaging with an exhibition game against the French champion team ASVEL-Lyon and a series of tuneups against NLEX and Comm’s Cup guest team Bay Area Dragons.
