Motorcycle thief chased by victim, mauled by bystanders in Nueva Vizcaya


BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya -- An alleged motorcycle thief was arrested after he was chased by a victim and cornered and mauled by bystanders in Brgy. Indiana here on Wednesday, August 10.

A report from the office of Col. Ranser Evasco, Nueva Vizcaya provincial director, stated that the suspect identified as Jerry Kiwag, 22, was arrested after he was mauled by bystanders around 3:30 p.m.

The suspect, a gardener, and resident of Brgy Nappo, Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya is now facing imprisonment in violation of RA 6539 as amended by RA 10883.

The victim Jeffrey Pardinas, 24, mechanic, of Bankag, Homestead, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya was busy working when the suspect tried to drive his motorcycle parked at the side of his workplace in Kumyoungan, Brgy Almaguer North, Bambang.

The victim and his companions chased the suspect and was apprehended at Brgy Indiana, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya through the help of barangay officials.

The suspect was immediately turned over to the responding personnel of Bambang Police.

He was informed of his constitutional rights and brought to Bambang Police, according to Police Master Sergeant Jimmy A. Rirao Jr, investigator-on case.

Suspect sustained injury and bruises after he was mauled by unidentified bystanders.
