BACOLOD CITY – An elderly man died after he was hit by a motorcycle in Barangay Damgo, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental Tuesday, August 9.
Police identified the victim as Aurelio Artus, 78, of Barangay Damgo.
Police Staff Sgt. Henry Mangana III, traffic investigator of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said the victim was crossing the street from his house when he was hit by an allegedly speeding motorcycle.
Mangana said that motorcycle rider Levy Mahinay, 20, of Barangay Alicante, was on his way to the town proper when the accident happened.
Mangana said the victim suffered leg and head injuries and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital while Mahinay suffered a fractured left arm.
Mangana said the victim’s son will press charges against Mahinay.
