4 dead in Maguindanao shootings – police


COTABATO CITY (PNA) – Police have launched a manhunt against gunmen in separate shootings that left four persons dead in Maguindanao Tuesday, August 9.

Police Col. Christopher Panapan, Maguindanao police director, said Wednesday, August 10, he ordered the manhunt to seek justice for the victims.

In one of the incidents, Panapan said a couple was gunned down by two men riding tandem on a motorbike in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao at 9 a.m.

Police Major Roldan Kuntong, Datu Salibo police chief, said the victims, Salik Sulaiman, 47; and his wife Guiaria, 42, both of Mamasapano, Maguindanao, were onboard a green multicab when they were attacked.

“They were heading for home when assaulted in a flooded area of the national highway in Barangay Sambolawan,” Kutong said.

The coupler died on the spot, he said, adding that tricycle driver Narex Bangkaling, 39, was also killed when hit by stray bullets.

An hour later, an unidentified gunman shot dead a tricycle driver in Barangay Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Bobot Masundig, 36, of Cotabato City, was killed on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds.

Panapan said initial investigation showed that the shootings were triggered by personal grudges.
