Kiefer Ravena is set to return for another tour of duty with Japan B.League team Shiga Lakes.
The team made the announcement through its social media page after signing the Filipino playmaker just in time for the start of the 2022-23 season although the terms were not disclosed.
“I’m excited to be back and play for you guys once again! This will be a great season for us and I know the boosters will have fun supporting the team this year,” said Ravena in a team statement.
Ravena played a major role last season for the Lakes averaging 13.2 points on a 35-percent shooting clip from beyond the arc, on top of his 5.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 27 minutes through 56 games. Shiga, however, finished the season with a record of 14-43 win-loss slate.
The heady point guard is in the country and was supposed to play for NLEX in the PBA but the contract negotiation between the two camps remained at an impasse. The Road Warriors initially offered a one-year deal which is lengthier than Ravena’s plan of playing one conference in the PBA before heading back to Japan.
Ravena last played as the captain of the Gilas Pilipinas during the third window of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers where the nationals split their assignments against India and New Zealand. He was also one of the leaders of the team during their stint in the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 where the country had its worst finish in 13 years after placing ninth.
