Geje Eustaquio picks Rodtang in ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio isn’t just keeping tabs on the world of mixed martial arts, he’s also a big fan of the striking sports.

That’s why he’ll keep his eyes glued to the screen during ONE 160: Ok vs. Lee II and ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II on August 26 and 27, respectively, when the events play host to the two ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix semifinal bouts.

ONE 160 will see Walter Goncalves take on Superlek Kiatmoo9 in one of the semis clashes, while ONE Fight Night 1 will see ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon battle Savvas Michael.

While Eustaquio isn’t discounting the other fighters in the tournament, the Filipino believes that the Grand Prix is the current flyweight king’s to win.

“Rodtang’s the favorite in the Grand Prix, especially since he’s been doing this all his life,” Eustaquio said.

“I know that this GP consists of the best of the best Muay Thai fighters, but I believe Rodtang will win the entire thing because he has all the advantages.”

It’s really not that hard to see why “Gravity” is so fond of “The Iron Man.”

Since making his ONE debut in 2018, Rodtang has won all his 11 promotional bouts in Muay Thai and kickboxing, and has also defended his strap three times since beating Jonathan Haggerty for it in 2019.

In the quarterfinals of the tournament, Rodtang was untouchable as he demolished Jacob Smith over the course of three one-sided rounds, adding credence to those who expected him to go through everyone in the tournament – Eustaquio included.

“If you’d look at it, he has the momentum with his dominance in his division. His confidence is so high right now, and I expect him to use that momentum in his favor heading into this Grand Prix,” Eustaquio said.

“So, if I’ll be choosing among all the competitors in this Grand Prix, I’m siding with Rodtang.”
