2 men arrested for stealing gold ores from mining firm in Nueva Vizcaya


QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya – Two men were arrested for stealing gold ores from a mining company in Sitio Bit-Ang, Barangay Runruno here Saturday, August 6.

Police identified the suspects as Dick Malana, 40, and Jimmy Madiwo, 47.

The 86th Infantry Battalion, 1st Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Mobile Force Company, and FCF Minerals Corp. security guards were patrolling the company premises when they saw the suspects going out of a tunnel carrying sacks containing rocks believed to be gold ores and sand.

They were accosted and asked who let them inside the tunnel. They were also asked about the contents of the sacks.

The suspects said their sacks contain gold ores or “naba” and admitted that it was their first time taking the minerals for a living.

They were arrested and brought to the Quezon Police Station for proper disposition, according to Police Staff Sgt. Harold Del Rosario, investigator-on-case.

Suspects have been charged for theft of mineral ores under Republic Act No. 7942.
