The City Health recorded a total of 3,164 dengue cases and 23 deaths from January 1 to July 30 this year.

A total of 16 people are presently admitted to the hospitals as of August 4.

Sta. Maria tops the list of ten barangays with the highest number of dengue cases with 187.

This is followed by Tetuan with 179 cases, Pasonanca, 171, Tumaga, 169, Putik, 164, San Roque, 147, Mercedes, 144, Calarian 132, Divisoria, 103, and Cabatangan with 92 cases.

The City Health Office has declared an outbreak of dengue cases last April due to the soaring number of dengue cases that went beyond the epidemic threshold.

The local government is calling on all residents to practice the 4S strategy which involves measures to search and destroy breeding sites of mosquitoes, seek early consultation, use self-protection such as insect repellents and say ‘yes’ to fogging in areas where cases are high.
