Cop, cohort fall in P3.4-M drug sting in Caloocan


The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested an active police officer and his cohort after they allegedly yielded P3.4 million worth of suspected crystal meth or "shabu" during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City on Thursday, August 4.

P/Cpl. Mark Jefferson Lopez, 30, was nabbed together with John Raster Jaie Muñoz, of Brgy. Bagong Silang, by PDEA agents around 5 p.m.

Operatives of the PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (RO-NCR) collared the suspects on Zabarte corner Camarin Roads in Barangay 172 in front of a shopping supermarket after they allegedly transacted with an undercover agent.

PDEA RO-NCR Director Christian Frivaldo reported that they seized from the suspects 500 grams of shabu, a Glock 17 police service firearm, a pistol magazine, 19 pieces of 9mm live ammunition, a Philippine National Police (PNP) identification card (ID), two mobile phones, and the buy-bust money.

Lopez and Muñoz face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
