Las Piñas gov’t holds safe motherhood lecture, Buntis Congress

The Las Piñas City government conducted a lecture on safe motherhood and mini Buntis Congress on Aug. 1 to share the importance of having regular pre-natal check-up during pregnancy.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the Safe Motherhood Advocacy lecture and Mini Buntis Congress were conducted by members of the City Health Office (CHO) to inform all women in the city on how to take care of themselves during pregnancy as well as the child they are carrying.

She said the CHO team emphasized that aside from having a regular pre-natal check-up during pregnancy, it is also important for women to take care of their oral health. The team explained that most common diseases that impact oral health include cavities (tooth decay), gum disease, and oral cancer.

The mayor said during the activity, the CHO team also told expecting mothers the importance of breastfeeding their baby from birth up to six months.

Aguilar said as part of her administration's “Tuloy ang Tapat at Progresibong Serbisyo” health program, such services are free and people can visit barangay health centers every Tuesday and Thursday.

The CHO team also encourages all mothers to practice family planning and responsible parenting.

The mayor said for additional questions on the free services being offered by the city government, people can visit the official Facebook page of the CHO at https://www.facebook.com/LASPINASCITYHEALTHOFFICE/
