‘Habagat’ to bring scattered rains over parts of northern, Central Luzon

(MANILA BULLETIN)

The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers over three regions in northern Luzon and two provinces in Central Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, August 2.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to “moderate to at times heavy rains” in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Bataan, and Zambales.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, PAGASA said the entire archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
