Before his “BamBam Fansign in Manila” event, BamBam held a press conference and talked about his return to the Philippines and career.

As he emerged on stage, Filipino fans cheered and shouted for BamBam.

He said “Cebu was really fun. I went to try ‘bangus’ [milkfish].” He also tried “sisig” and lechon.

About his future album, BamBam said, “I cannot spoil here. My next album, I’m working on it. This time it’s not so bright concept. It’s a really a big project right now in my company.”

BamBam debuted in GOT7 in 2014 and also embarked on a solo career.

He said that “it changed everything. It changed my life. I got to go to a lot of places.”

When BamBam was asked about the possibility of collaborating with a Filipino artist, fans mentioned James Reid.

“James? James…Actually we’ve talking about it. We should make a song. Nothing happened yet. James, you know, he’s one of my good friends. I met him not too long ago. Yeah, I think if I have the chance I will be happy to have a collab with James too,” said BamBam.

About his bucket list in the Philippines, BamBam said, “I want to go to the beach and I also really wanted to go to the night market in the Philippines.”

After releasing the album “B” last January, BamBam said he does not feel any pressure about his next album.

“Not really. I’m really confident about my next album right now. I hope I can have a concert in the Philippines,” he said.

BamBam rose to become one of the success stories of Southeast Asian artists. He advised other artists to “just be yourself and never give up.”

Last April, BamBam flew to San Francisco in a collaborative event with the Golden State Warriors. BamBam was appointed as the Golden State Warriors’ global ambassador and he performed during the half-time.

About the experience, he said, “I was so excited. I don’t think I’m super tall. I don’t I’m super short. Everywhere I go in Korea, I’m most likely have the basic height. When I go to the NBA, I see all the players, I feel like a little baby.”

About getting advice from other GOT7 members on his music, BamBam said, “Actually I don’t give my member listen to my solo songs” and joked that “they might steal my idea.”

“Before ‘Ribbon’, actually ‘Pandora’ was the title song of the ‘Ribbon’ album. And then Yugyeom he sent me his solo music. And I was like ‘oh the concept is similar. I need to change.’ I changed to Ribbon,” he said.

With the easing of restrictions due to the pandemic, BamBam is thankful that he is back meeting fans and performing.

“I’ve been waiting to perform. I’ve been waiting to meet you guys like this,” he said.

When he was asked if he has pre-show rituals that he does before going on stage, he said, “I drink Red Bull. Can I just open here? Can I tell one thing? No one knows from Manila. Don’t get me wrong. You know sometimes when you are so excited that you want to crowd to feel my energy and bring my energy up so I drink tequila sometimes.”

BamBam promised to come back to the Philippines and do a concert.

“I would say thank you so much for a warm, warm welcome all the time. It’s been a long time. I feel really good to be back here. But next time I will come back here with a concert,” he said.

The “BamBam Fansign in Manila” was presented by CDM Entertainment.
