Barangay chairman, teacher arrested for different offenses in Cagayan


CAGAYAN -- A teacher accused of falsification of private individual documents and a barangay chairman accused of usurpation of authority were arrested in separate implementations of warrant arrest on Friday, July 29, in Amulung town in this province.

A report from the Cagayan Police Provincial Office stated that at around 8:45 a.m. on Friday, July 29, alias Erlinda, 39, a teacher and resident of Zone 7, Brgy. Dugayung in this town was arrested in Brgy. Magogod by joint personnel of Amulung Police Station and 3rd Mobile Force Platoon, 1st Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Erlinda is facing a crime of Falsification of Private Individual and use of falsified documents (RPC Article 172) penalized under Article 172, Paragraph 1 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code.

The accused was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Maita Grace Deray Israel, Presiding Judge of Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Second Judicial Region, Branch 3, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan dated July 22, 2022

The recommended bail for Erlinda for her temporary liberty is P36,000.

At about 2:20 p.m. on the same day, joint personnel of Peñablanca Police Station and 1st Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested Alias Milania, 55, barangay chairman of Brgy. Baliuag, Peñablanca, for the crime of Usurpation of Authority or Official Functions (RPC Art 177).

The recommended bail for Milania’s temporary liberty is P30,000.

The warrant of arrest against Milania was issued by Hon. Olga I Oleriana, Presiding Judge of Municipal Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Peñablanca, Cagayan dated July 27, 2022.

Both were brought to Amulung Police and Peñablanca Police for booking procedure prior to their turnover to the court of origin.
