The Department of Health (DOH) has already recorded close to 74,000 dengue cases since January.

A total of 73,909 dengue cases have already been recorded as of July 9, said DOH Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary of Public Health Services Team Beverly Ho during a press briefing on Thursday, July 28.

“This is cumulatively 96 percent higher compared to the reported cases during the same period last year which is around 37,000 cases,” she noted.

“Most of these cases were reported from Region 3, Region 7, and NCR (National Capital Region),” she added.

She noted that 18,000 dengue cases were recorded from June 12 to July 9.

Also, 11 out of 17 regions ”already exceeded the epidemic threshold in the past four weeks.” Ho did not specify what these regions are.

The DOH already logged 299 dengue-related deaths nationwide, she added.
