Fans are pleasantly surprised that Kapuso star Sanya Lopez is adding an extra dimension to her career by being the singer of the hip new single "Hot Maria Clara," released by GMA Music last July 15.
Even hotter is the music video which shows Sanya alternating between studded pants, a body-hugging gym outfit and a gold-colored terno, all the while grooving and belting out to a catchy beat : " I'm a hot Maria Clara, demure na dalaga/ and boy you should know my worth/ Awra!
Between her dancing and her singing, observers can't help but comment how Sanya reminds them of a local version of J.Lo. The girl can sing, and we think it will take a few more songs before Sanya evolves into the complete performer that she is.
"Hot Maria Clara" composed by Njel De Mesa was conceptualized with no less than Sanya in mind. The 25-year old actress recalled how the creatives of GMA Music approached her one day to ask for her inputs on a song collaboration. She told them about the limits of her vocal range and how she likes the melody to be upbeat, with a touch of rap.
It also helps that Sanya walks the talk when it comes to singing about Maria Clara which is a symbolism for a prim and pure Filipina. She's a certified NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth).
The young star admitted that she is really old-fashioned when it comes to love and courtship.
" Kapag interesado sa akin ang isang tao, gusto ko na ipaparamdam nya sa akin na nanliligaw sya. Hindi ako yung tipong magpapaligaw through text. Kung maghaharana sya, eh di go! I know hindi na uso ang harana pero nakaka kilig na pupuntahan ka sa bahay at magbibigay galang sya sa magulang at pamilya mo," she noted.
Sanya stated that she is "single by choice" and "does not need a mekaniko" owing to her busy schedule in showbiz. "Sa ngayon, busy muna ako mahalin ang sarili ko. May mga manliligaw rin naman pero di pa rin talaga ako makapagbigay ng time sa kanila at unfair din naman sa tao."
The actress disclosed that her single status sometimes worries her family. Close friends, like her previous Encantadia co-star Glaiza De Castro, are also offering to match her with suitable guys.
Sanya confessed that yes, she is taking her time to find Mr. Right. " I had a hard life growing up. I also saw that those who married early among my peers found it difficult. I want to secure my family first before pursuing happiness in a relationship."
With her millions of followers in social media, Sanya wants to tell young women through her "Hot Maria Clara" song that it's okay to say No, to value yourself as a woman and choose the boys you surround yourself with.
"Nakakalungkot na nakakalimutan na natin kung paano ba maging Maria Clara, kung paano ba natin mahalin yung mga sarili natin bilang dalagang Pilipina. Mabilis na tayong nakukuha. Maraming lumalabas ngayon sa social media at sadly, nagiging liberated na yung ibang mga tao. Sana ma control pa rin natin ito at mailagay uli natin sa puso at isipan na kailangan nating pahalagahan ang sarili natin. Bilang mga babae, hindi tayo basta-basta," Sanya stated.
"Hot Maria Clara" is currently streaming in all platforms and has quickly risen to be on Top 3 of the iTunes Philippines chart.
