Naval, Biliran Mayor Espina, son catch Covid

TACLOBAN CITY – Naval, Biliran Mayor Gretchen Espina confirmed that she tested positive for Covid-19.

She disclosed that she and her son who were earlier non-reactive to an antigen test tested positive in the confirmatory RT-PCR test Sunday, July 24.

"Two days ago, we tested non-reactive sa antigen. We were in close monitoring pa rin dahil may mild symptoms kami (Two days ago, we tested non-reactive in the antigen test. We were in close monitoring because we have mild symptoms)," she said.

She added that she isolated herself as soon as the symptoms manifested.

They are confined in a hospital here while their household members turned out non-reactive during the antigen test.

Meanwhile, her brother, Biliran Gov. Gerard Espina, who remains in isolation, tested negative while his son tested positive for COVID-19.

"I have been exposed to Seb (his son) since yesterday because I’m the one who personally takes care of his needs," he said.

Both officials assured that all services of the Provincial Capitol and the local government of Naval would continue and they could be reached online.
