Couple, son yield P544,000 worth of shabu in Bacolod drug bust

BACOLOD CITY -- A son and his parents were arrested after police seized 80 grams of shabu worth P544,000 in a buy-bust operation at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here on Monday, July 25.

The subject of the operation was identified as Michael Young, 23, while his parents were identified as Harold, 52, and Raquel, 50.

Police Capt. Paul Vincent Pendon, head of Police Station 2, said the buy-bust operation was conducted at their house in Barangay 2, after a month of monitoring.

Pendon said that Young and his mother allegedly transacted with a police agent during the transaction, while Harold was allegedly caught in possession of illegal drugs.

However, Pendon said that Young’s parents still allegedly conspired with him in the alleged selling of illegal drugs.

Pendon said that Young has no job, and the family has a sari-sari store at home.

According to Pendon, Young was arrested for illegal gambling in 2019, while his parents were also previously arrested for a drug offense and were released last year after serving the sentence.

Meanwhile, Pendon said they have already identified the source of the illegal drugs, but refused to give more details, pending their follow-up operation.

The three suspects, who have yet to be reached for comment, are detained at Police Station 2.
