After two years, award-winning singer Rachel Alejandro is now ready to perform in front of her Pinoy fans at the Winford Manila Resort & Casino on July 30.
Known for her iconic songs, Mr. Kupido, Paalam na, and Kay Tagal, Rachel shared her thoughts about performing for the first time in the Philippines again, after two years of lockdown due to the pandemic.
“I am so excited, tsaka sobrang saya na this concert is finally matutuloy na, after mapostpone pa siya for more than two years, and of course kami ni verge have been talking on and off in the past two years, and of course maybe some of you may know, in the past two years medyo nagstay po ako ng medyo matagal sa US, and I am currently doing a US tour, I am very grateful na nandito pa rin tayo lahat and nabigyan tayo ng opportunity to share music,” Rachel said.
The singer also mentioned her challenges during the transition of performing live on stage,. “Ako nung una kong narinig na may confirmed show, ang first thing na ginawa ko is that inayos ko yung costumes ko, para sa sigurado ako na kasya pa,” Rachel shared.
“Meron akong naging isang appearance, a socially distance party performance and since nagigym naman ako akala ko na fit naman ako kaya ko to diba? Yun pala iba yung hingal ng hindi ka nagperform ng sobrang tagal,” she added.
Rachel thanks her fans for the warm support. She even gave a short performance of her song Paalam na during the mini-press conference.
Aside from her concerts, Rachel is set to have an appearance in two international films entitled Sinister Cover Up and Asian Persuasion.
A household name since the ‘80s, Alejandro first entered the world of showbiz as a host on popular television show That’s Entertainment. Following a successful TV stint, Alejandro recorded her first album, Just a Minute, which spawned several hits such as Mr. Kupido, K.S.P. (Kulang Sa Pansin), and Kay Tagal.
Her second album, Watch Me Now, featured a revival of Nakapagtataka, the signature song of her father, pop icon Hajji Alejandro, which earned her the Awit Award for Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist and the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation Award for Best Female Singer/Entertainer.
Having established herself on television and in music, Alejandro has also enjoyed success in theater, appearing in international productions like Rent where she played the role of Mimi Marquez, Atlantis Productions’ Avenue Q which played at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and as ‘Justice’ in a repeat run of Rock of Ages in Manila.
