Police identified the suspects as Razel Lyam Gamazan, 37, a sari-sari store owner and the subject of the operation; and her companion Lennie Nava, 40, both residents of Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

Police Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., officer-in-charge of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-Western Visayas, said they received information six months ago about the alleged transport of illegal drugs in the province from Luzon.

Benitez said they focused their monitoring on the two alleged drug couriers for about a month and transacted with them in Silay City.

Benitez said the two suspects traveled from Quezon City via a roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) vessel to sneak in the illegal drugs into the province.

In fact, Benitez said they tried to intercept a silver sedan allegedly ridden by the suspects upon their arrival here but they failed.

He said both of them had already delivered some of the illegal drugs in Iloilo and here before proceeding to Silay City.

He said the suspects allegedly have a contact inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City who instructed where and to whom the contraband should be delivered.

He said they are now investigating the possible clients of the suspects here and in the province.

Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas, said the confiscated illegal drugs were concealed in a box of milk wrapped inside surgical gloves with a tape.

Solis said the suspects just arrived in the province when they were busted by the police.
