Illegal fishpens in Dagupan City set for demolition

DAGUPAN CITY – Illegal fishpens here are set for demolition following a series of meetings between

barangay captains of coastal barangays and Bantay Ilog, a task force created to safeguard the environment.

The meetings were witnessed by Mayor Belen Fernandez here.

The barangay captains and Bantay Ilog reported that illegal fishpens in coastal barangays have returned in the past three years. Some of them were 300 to 400-square meters in length.

The navigational lane in the coastal barangays has been severely affected by the illegal fish pens.

The City Agriculturist's Office continues to conduct an inventory of illegal fish pens with Bantay Ilog.
