Liza Diño remains FDCP chair in 'holdover capacity'

Liza Diño was in Malacañang July 6 for a meeting, this, regarding her tenure as chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

In the meeting, Liza was instructed to continue to perform her duties as chairperson and CEO of the agency in a "holdover capacity" to ensure the continuity of the agency’s operations while the official appointment of incoming chairman Tirso Cruz III is still pending.

This was shared by Liza herself on Facebook, Thursday.

She said: "I just want to share with you that yesterday I was called in Malacañang at the Office of Executive Secretary to confirm the appointment of our new FDCP Chairman Tirso Cruz III. And I was asked na pending the release of his appointment papers, I will be still holding the role of the Chair on a holdover capacity. So meaning I will still perform the duties as mandated sa aming opisina."

She then thanked "everyone" for the "support."

"And sana po suportahan din natin ang darating po nating Chair," she added. "Ang FDCP po ay naghahanda na sa turn over ng aming opisina. And we are hoping for a very, very smooth transition."

Liza also related that she and Tirso have already discussed details regarding the turnover process.

"Napakaganda po ng usapan namin because we share the same vision. And ang sabi ko po sa kanya sana po ma-i-pagpatuloy niya lahat ng mga programa ng FDCP and he's lucky and he's bless because he will be working with a team of dynamic, passionate, dedicated people who will rally behind him in the name of film industry and cinema."

Meanwhile, in a statement, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles clarified: "Ms. Diño was reappointed by President Duterte and was serving a second term when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. exercised his power to remove the current chair and appoint new one. However, while Mr. Tirso Cruz III's documents are pending, Ms. Diño remains in a holder capacity."
