Joseph Eriobu finished what Almond Vosotros had started, nailing the game-clinching deuce to beat Jordan, 21-19, to open their FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Qualifying Draw on a winning note on Thursday, July 7 in Singapore.

Tied 19-all, Eriobu drilled the booming two-pointer from the right wing to put the game to rest and get an inside track for one of the spots in the main draw. Gilas now only needs to beat Indonesia in their final assignment later in the day to advance to the next round.

Eriobu finished with six points built on two long bombs while Almond Vosotros carried the fight early on with 11 points on five two-pointers. Samboy De Leon and Lervin Flores chipped in two points each.

With Gilas trailing 6-4 halfway through the match, Vosotros caught fire from the distance and nailed consecutive baskets to put the national team ahead, 16-11. The Jordanians, however, with their size and brute strength, pounded the ball inside as they capitalized on Gilas’ penalty situation to slowly cut the deficit and eventually tie the game at 18-all.

A De Leon floater gave the PH bets a 19-18 lead but Ahmad Hassoneeh tied things up with a short stab, only for them to falter in their final defensive stance and allowed Eriobu to get an open shot for the dagger deuce.
