ILOILO CITY – Fewer crimes were recorded in the first half of the year in Western Visayas.
Based on a report released by the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), a total of 10,408 criminal incidents were recorded from January to June 2022, 441 lower than the 10,849 logged in the same period last year.
These data cover the region composed of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces, and the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
“This was a result of maximized coordination and collaboration with the local government units and other stakeholders to enhance our crime prevention endeavors,” said PRO-6 regional director Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo.
Under the peace and order category, PRO-6 recorded a decrease by 772 cases for the first half of the year. From 5,926 incidents recorded in 2021, it went down to 5,154 cases from January to June 2022.
PRO-6 also recorded a decrease of 166 cases in the eight focus crimes which are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping- motor vehicle, and carnapping. There were 1,278 cases recorded from January to June 2022. In comparison, there were 1,444 cases for the same period of last year.
