Iloilo province integrates Covid-19 vaccination with nutrition program

ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo provincial government is integrating its Covid-19 vaccination program with the celebration of Nutrition Month this year.

Dubbed as ‘Project Nutrivac,’ the move aims to increase the vaccination coverage of the province towards economic recovery while promoting family nutrition and strengthening the public’s health against Covid-19.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr issued Executive Order 2022-307 wherein he indicated the need to incentivize vaccination to increase vaccine uptake.

Based on the data of the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, 80.1 percent of the eligible population has received the first dose while 74.3 percent received the second dose.

With Project Nutrivac, the provincial government is coordinating with the health officers of the 42 towns and component city of Passi to strengthen the vaccinations for those who have not been vaccinated as well as booster shots.

The Project Nutrivac will also distribute packs to indigent families, especially those with children who are underweight or their growth is stunted.

The Iloilo provincial government is working closely with the National Nutrition Council (NNC), an attached agency of the Department of Health (DOH).
