Police identified the victim as Geory Adeva of Barangay Handumanan, this city.
This was the second reported shooting incident in this city this month.
Police Corporal Rustum Sayson, case investigator of the Police Station 2, said that Adeva was on his way home on board his motorcycle when the suspect reportedly tailed and shot him in the head multiple times. The victim died on the spot.
Police recovered from the crime scene five fired bullets from an unknown firearm.
Sayson said they have no lead yet on the identity of the perpetrator but added they will ask for a copy of closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footages from nearby establishments to review the incident.
Based on the manner of the killing, Sayson believed that the perpetrator may have grudges against the victim.
However, police could not yet establish the motive.
A day earlier, Friday, July 1, a businessman was wounded in Barangay Estefania, the first shooting incident in this city this month.
Police said the victim Rodger Hofileña, 41, of Barangay Estefania, figured in an altercation with Andrew Prudenciado, 46, because of the waste drainage system in their area.
Police Major Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, said the victim and the suspect were neighbors but had a longstanding issue with the drainage system which caused the suspect to hold a grudge against the victim.
The suspect allegedly shot the victim when he saw him and fled.
The victim sustained six bullet wounds in the body and was brought to a hospital where he is recuperating.
