The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intercepted some P30 million worth of smuggled agriculture products at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).

In a statement, the BOC said the smuggled products were misdeclared as hotpot balls from China and were consigned to Lycan Consumer Goods Trading.

BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said the smuggled items, found in five 40-foot container vans, were discovered when they were inspected amid reports of anomaly in the documents.

The container vans contain frozen peeled chicken breast, frozen skinless chicken breast, frozen skinless cut chicken, frozen peeled chicken breast, and frozen chicken skinless big breast.

The operation came amid the controversy hounding some top officials of the BOC, including Guerrero, for their alleged involvement in smuggling of agriculture products into the country.
