The new Muntinlupa City Council (Sangguniang Panlungsod) will be Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s partner in providing basic services to residents.
“The 10th City Council under the Biazon administration shall continue to be a reliable and efficient partner in delivering basic services to our people,” Councilor Raul Corro, the City Council’s majority floor leader, told the Manila Bulletin on July 1.
He added, “Part of the success of the previous administration is the very good working relationship between the executive and legislative departments. This brought about an unprecedented growth and progress in the city in the past three terms.”
Corro said “the historic victory in the last elections in which all our candidates under One Muntinlupa Party won is an affirmation of the people’s trust and confidence in our performance.”
According to Corro, the focus now of the City Council is the recovery of the city from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But we are also fully aware that this resounding mandate means that we have a grave responsibility to continue to do our job and rise up to the challenge, most especially in our main task of recovering from the pandemic,” he said.
Corro added, “Our job is not just to continue the good work of the previous administration but to improve on it and, if possible , even surpass it and thereby upgrade the quality of life of our fellow Muntinlupeños.”
“Needless to say, we need the support and cooperation of every department head and employee and, of course, the help and cooperation of our fellow Muntinlupeños to achieve our goals in the next three years and beyond,” he said.
The new councilors in District 1 of Muntinlupa are Corro, Alexson Diaz, Paty Katy Boncayao-Barreto, Rachel Katriel Ann Arciaga, Ivee Rhia Arciaga-Tadefa, Allan Rey Camilon, Jedidiah Presnedi, and Valentino Niefes.
The District 2 councilors are Mark Lester Baes, Francis Ian Bagatsing, Luvi Constantino, Mamerto Sevilla Jr., Marissa Rongavilla, Arlene Hilapo, Cornelio Martinez, and Rodolfo Moldez Jr.
All the 19 candidates of the One Muntinlupa team won in the May 9 elections.
