CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The outgoing governor of Misamis Oriental has offered P500,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information on the suspects, even the mastermind, in the murder of a radio blocktime anchor here.

The 62-year old radio block-time anchor Federico Gempesaw was shot dead on Wednesday, June 29, by unidentified motorcycle riding-in-tandem gunmen a few steps away from his residence in Sitio Macanhan, Barangay Carmen this city.

Outgoing governor and Misamis Oriental second district representative-elect Yevgeny Vicente Emano and his political party PaDayon Pilipino strongly condemned the killing of the radio anchorman.

Emano portrayed Gempesaw as a kind and hard working person during his time when he served the city hall as a public servant under the administration of his late father, former Cagayan de Oro City mayor Vicente Emano.

Emano recalled that Gempesaw had no enemy. However, he did not rule out the possibility that there are people who probably got affected by his commentaries.

“It’s hard to speculate, but maybe there are people who got affected by his sayings on air,” said Emano in vernacular.

“These people who are affected, are the real people who have bad deeds and deserve to be criticized on air,” he added.

The outgoing governor assured the radio man’s family of a thorough investigation to achieve justice for Gempesaw’s death.

Col. Aaron Mandia, the director of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), has already directed Maj. Mario Mantala Jr., the Carmen police station chief, to conduct the follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation.

According to Mantala, the gunman, based on the statement from some witnesses, was wearing a brown striped shirt with brown shorts and wearing a helmet, while the driver was in a black jacket and wearing a cap.

Mandia urged the public to immediately coordinate with the police if they receive any information that would help the authorities to locate the suspects.
