ILOILO CITY — Capiz Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro was sworn in Thursday, June 30.

Castro took his oath in front of the door of the Capiz Provincial Capitol in Roxas City, the provincial capital.

“This shows to everyone in Capiz and all Capiznons that our provincial government is open to all,” said Castro in his inaugural address that was delivered mostly in the Hiligaynon dialect.

“I am not your boss. I am simply your governor, who is in charge to charter the navigation of the province. So again, I am not your boss. I am not a king,” Castro emphasized.

“Your provincial government and your public officials are there to serve you,” Castro added.

Castro is serving his first term as governor. He defeated Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras II in the last elections by more than 100,000 votes.

Castro’s allies, including reelected Vice Gov. James Magbanua and members of the Capiz Provincial Board, also took their oath.

Later in the afternoon, Castro administered the oath of reelected Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
