BACOLOD CITY – Two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen shot and killed a former barangay councilor in Barangay Poblacion, San Enrique, Negros Occidental Thursday, June 30.

Police identified the victim as Alejandro Azcarrate, 57, of Barangay Nayon.

Police Lt. Col. Bonifacio Aral, San Enrique police chief, said that Azcarrate was riding his motorcycle on his way home when he was shot in the head at around 5:50 a.m. He was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Prior to the incident, the victim met with his clients as he was selling fish. Aral said it's possible that the victim's clients could be the suspects.

Police recovered from the crime scene three fired bullets from a .45 caliber firearm.

Aral said they could not yet determine the motive since the victim had not been into politics for a long time.
