"For the past few weeks since the elections, I have tried to find the best and the brightest and all of those who are willing to help," Marcos said during the oath-taking and thanksgiving celebration of elected officials of the One Cebu Party in Cebu City.

"I believe we have found a good team...that we can have confidence in, that would bring us together, that will create, and that will formulate and transform, formulate plans to transform the economy to the new global economy. And that I what we all wish for our country," the incoming leader said.

Joining Marcos at the event was a member of this team in Vice President-elect Sara Duterte. Marcos had earlier designated Duterte as his Department of Education (DepEd) secretary.

Despite being upbeat with his Cabinet, Marcos was not under the illusion that everything would be a cakewalk moving forward. As such, he asked One Cebu to once again support him, this time as the chief executive.

"As I needed your help (One Cebu) during the campaign, perhaps I can say I need your help even more now. Marami tayong kailangang gawin, marami tayong challenges (We need to do a lot of things, we have many challenges).

"Together, we have made history. Together, we have changed the political terrain in the Philippines. Let us continue to make history. And this time, instead of just electoral history, let us make history for our countrymen," he said.

Marcos will officially take over as the new president on Thursday, June 30. His inauguration will take place at the National Museum in Ermita.

Marcos has yet to nominate chiefs for several agencies. These include the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Energy (DOE), and Bureau of Customs (BOC). He recently named himself as the temporary Department of Agriculture (DA) chief.

One Cebu is the dominant political party in Cebu, the province with the largest voting population.
