Several House of Representatives members of the upcoming 19th Congress managed to rub elbows with President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the days prior to the latter’s inauguration on June 30.
Leading the congressmen were San Jose del Monte City lone district Rep. Florida Robes, who has proven to be a staunch supporter of Marcos particularly during the campaign of the UniTeam ticket in the months leading to the May 9 polls.
A photo of the House members and Marcos was snapped for posterity.
Before this, Robes hosted a luncheon for the 64-year-old incoming leader that was attended by the solons and local officials, including 22 Bulacan mayors. These local chief executives were instrumental in drumming up support for the former Ilocos Norte governor’s Palace bid.
The lawmakers who took parts in the luncheon were Rep. Macnell Lusotan, Marino Party-list; Rep. Sandra Eriguel, 2nd district, La Union; Rep. Ambrocio “Boy” Cruz, 5th district, Bulacan; Rep. Salvador “Ador” Pleyto, 6th district, Bulacan; and Rep. Glona Labadlabad, 2nd district, Zamboanga del Norte.
Also in attendance were Rep. Luisa Lloren “Banti” Cuaresma, lone district, Nueva Vizcaya; Rep. Richard Gomez, 4th district, Leyte; and Rep. Divina Grace Yu, 1st district, Zamboanga del Sur.
Marcos garnered an astounding 31 million votes en route to a rare majority vote victory during the elections.
