The low pressure area (LPA) will further bring light to heavy rains over Metro Manila, Isabela, southern and central Luzon, and Visayas in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday afternoon, June 27.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 150 kilometers west of Abucay, Bataan, as of 4 p.m.
Senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the LPA still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression but may bring rains over several parts of Luzon and Visayas in the next 24 hours.
Those in Metro Manila, Isabela, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Central Luzon, and Visayas were advised to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to “moderate to at times heavy rains.”
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Perez said the LPA may enhance the effect of the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” which may bring rains over the country in the next two to three days.
