Germany forfeits game after refusing to play China in VNL

Thursday’s match pitting Germany against China in the Volleyball Nations League at the Smart Araneta Coliseum was cancelled after the Germans refused to play despite local health authorities clearing Chinese athletes of Covid-19 protocols.

In accordance with the league rules and regulations, Germany automatically forfeits the match, giving China a 3-0 victory.

With the development, Germany dropped to a 3-3 win-loss record while China improved to 2-4.

It can be recalled that China was forced to forfeit its Wednesday match against France due to health reasons related to Covid-19.

At that time, the Chinese team could not field six players for the match due to medical circumstances.
