EEI Power completes solar carport system in Tarlac


EEI Power Corporation (EEIPC), the power utility arm of EEI Corporation, has switched on the 290.16kWp Solar Carport System of Tarlac Medical Center (TMC) in Brgy. San Vicente, Tarlac City.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, EEI said the solar carport system, which is comprised of 543 pieces of 535 Watt-peak monocrystalline photovoltaic solar panels.

This is expected to supply as much as 60 percent of TMC's daytime load requirement and can generate an annual average energy yield of 333,319kWh.

It is also expected to help reduce carbon footprint by as much as 130 metric tons per year which is the equivalent of 30 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven in a year, and of planting 3,900 trees.

Over the course of the PV system's 25-year lifespan, TMC is expected to save up to as much as P73 million in power bills.

The solar carport system which covers a total area of 2,501 square meters and can accommodate 95 vehicles, is the biggest of its kind ever installed in a local hospital by far.

Tarlac Medical Center President and CEO Dr. Benedicto Benin said “this initiative is testament to TMC’s support to environmental stewardship by raising awareness on the benefits of clean energy. We believe that using renewable, non-polluting energy sources is a key driver of sustainable development.”

TMC is wholly owned by Tarlac Doctor’s Medical Centre Inc. and began operations on January 18, 2021 with a capacity of 100 beds. TMC said it is committed to provide excellence in patient care that is coupled with compassion and loving service.
