Carlos Yulo finishes silver in individual all-around of Asian Championships


Carlos Yulo finished with a silver medal in the individual all-around and qualified to two more apparatus finals in the 9th Asian Senior Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar Thursday.

The two-time world champion tallied 83.767 to come in behind eventual champion Shi Cong of China, who posted 83.833. China’s Yang Jiaxing took home the bronze with 83.733.

Yulo banked on his performance in vault after topping the event with 14.867. He also finished sixth in parallel bars with 14.367.

But the multiple Southeast Asian Games champion fell short in the horizontal bar after finishing 12th with 12.700.

The 21-year-old Tokyo Olympian earlier led the individual all-around after the first three apparatus, where ruled in his pet event, the floor exercise with 14.800, finished sixth in still rings with 14.100, and managed a 20th place in pommel horse with 12.933.

Yulo would be aiming for more medals when he competes in the apparatus finals in floor exercise, still rings, vault and parallel bars.

Meanwhile, Juancho Besana also qualified in the vault finals after finishing eighth.
