Veteran newsman Fred Lobo writes 30


The National Press Club of the Philippines (NPC) announced Wednesday, June 15, the passing of its former president, veteran newsman Alfredo “Fred” Lobo.

According to the NPC statement, Lobo, a former Manila Bulletin reporter, was found dead inside his condominium unit in Malate, Manila on June 13, 2022.

Based on the report of the Manila Police District (MPD), the death of Lobo, 66, also a certified public accountant, was reported at around 9:45 a.m.

Mr. Lobo was NPC president for three consecutive terms, from 1995 to 1998, and served the club with honor and distinction.

An amiable person, he was fondly remembered as “Mr. Last Question” during the press conferences in Malacañang, especially during the term of President Fidel Ramos, the NPC said.

The club expressed its “sincerest condolences to his bereaved family and friends.”
