The Lady Blazers hardly broke a set and dominated the match throughout to clinch their second straight win to tie with Arellano at the helm.

Skipper Francis Mycah Go and Jhasmin Pascual combined for 19 kills to finish with 10 points apiece for St. Benilde, while Jade Gentapa led with 11 points.

The Lady Blazers, though, struggled to intensify their assault in the first frame and only got things going late in the frame after pulling away from a 20-19 lead en route to the set victory.

From then on, St. Benilde played like a well-oiled machine and hammered down Lyceum on the offensive lane.

St. Benilde coach Jerry Yee said it feels good to get a head start early in the tournament.

“Gusto lang natin to win as many games. Baka makakuha ng incentives or at least keep the team morale high,” said Yee.

The Lady Blazers exposed the Lady Pirates’ lethargic offense by firing 47 kills against Lyceum’s 24. They also converted 20 points off the Lady Pirates’ unforced errors.

None from Lyceum scored in double figures with Jewel Maligmat only managing eight points, Micah Daya and Johna Dolorito scoring six points each.
