ICYDK: Pepsi Japan releases the perfect drink to pair with fried chicken

Apart from ramen, sushi, and mochi, Filipinos have a deep love for karaage. Usually found inside bento boxes, this Japanese-style fried chicken has every bit of its Western counterpart. It is crispy, juicy, and definitely comforting. And for a nation that consumes fried chicken during Christmas, it is not hard for the karaage to become one of the top favorite dishes of the Japanese people (and even us, too).

To make their karaage dining experience more pleasurable, Pepsi Japan crafts the perfect beverage to match the dish. Recently, it introduces Pepsi Zero Karaage Senyo, which translates to Pepsi Zero Specialized for Karaage in English.

What makes this drink the perfect pair for fried chicken is that it is less sweet with its cola taste dialed down allowing for people to fully enjoy their fried chicken experience. Its dietary fiber content also aids in cutting through the oiliness and fattiness of the deep-fired dish, ultimately, refreshing one’s palate with every sip. And unlike the usual cola, this new creation of Pepsi is colorless and contains zero calories.

Pepsi Zero Karaage Senyo is set to hit the store on June 14 in Japan. Here’s to hoping it will come to the Philippines soon. We’re big fried chicken lovers, too!
